Being gentle with yourself
I got so angry this morning. Yes, that’s right meditation and yoga teachers get angry :) My blender wasn’t closed all the way. So of course all of the contents spilled out. This has happened frequently since breaking my wrist. I don’t have full strength in my arm or wrist yet.
My immediate thought went to frustration and anger. Frustrated that I still don’t have the strength. Frustration that this machine didn’t work for me. And then I stopped. And remembered to be gentle with myself.
Being gentle with myself has been a practice. A practice of remembering to soften, to connect with the nurturing aspect of myself. The nurturing aspect that is within all of us. And it is part of the feminine aspect of ourselves and our world.
We are all nurturers.
How do we nurture our dreams?
How do we nurture our goals?
How do we nurture our life? Our friendships and relationships?
How do we nurture ourselves in the darkness, in the places where we feel tender, where we feel lost. Where we feel confused and angry. The places where we feel frustrated with where we are at the moment.
Once we begin to nurture ourselves, we can cultivate and foster that feminine source and energy, to soften and let go. To be present. To remember that we are doing the best we can with all that we have.
